 Chaoskampf Checkers

The game uses the rules of International Checkers (Draughts).

Starting position

The game is played on a board with 10×10 squares, alternatingly dark and light. The lower-leftmost square should be dark.

The game uses 38 pieces - 19 white and 19 black. The backs of the pieces must be indistinguishable from each other so the pieces cannot be identified when face down.

In the starting position (see illustration), the 38 pieces are shuffled and randomly distributed face down on the black squares on the board from the second to the ninth row. The first and last row, as well as the central part of the board, remain empty.

White starts the game first by turning any piece on the board face up.Then turns alternate.

At this stage, the player must either turn any piece on the board up or capture the opponent's piece (if there is such a possibility). If a capture is possible it must be done.

As soon as all the pieces on the board are turned face up, the last stage of the game begins - the usual game of international checkers according to the rules of the FMJD.
